It was a weekend. decided to have dinner at Iscon Thal restaurant which is located in the Sarkhej – Gandhinagar Hwy and known for Kathiyawadi food.
The Ambiance & Services
The atmosphere was nice, family-style, and cheerful and glowing with an elegant interior. But everything is messy, and didn’t maintain hygiene properly. Besides that, I feel that the seating arrangement was a little congested for us.
Although, the manager was so cooperative and paid equal attention to all visitors.
Food Experience
Coming to the food, our full course dinner includes Aloo Sabzi, Undhiyu, Undhiyu, Mixed Khatol, and Paneer sabzi, Plain Chapati, Puri Naan, Khaman, Chatni, Khichdi, Papad, and Buttermilk.
And honestly, the food wasn’t as good as we expected. It was just average. Perhaps I also enjoyed eating a few of them.
To give you a clear view of my food experience, here’s my humble opinion for each food item.
Aloo Sabzi (2/5)
It was tasteless, the spice, masala, and other ingredients were not balanced. And the flavors didn’t come out very well.
Undhiyu(1/5)
Again, it was tasteless just like aloo sabzi. The varieties of vegetables in undhiyu were sufficient but not enough to deliver the taste we wanted.
Mixed Khatol(2.5/5)
It tastes neither so delicious nor so bad, it was just okay. Mixed khatol used to serve in our festive occasion and that makes it one of its kind. But I didn’t get the taste that I was expecting.
Paneer Sabzi(3/5)
It was better than Aloo Sabzi and Mixed Kathol, but not as good as it was supposed to be. The paneer seemed to be overcooked and the gravy inside it was too much.
Kadhi-Khichdi(3/5)
The “Kadi” was warm, tasty, and appetizing as usual. But I like the “Khichdi” a little less.
Basundi (2/5)
The only food item I enjoyed the most was “Basundi”. It was delicious, creamy, nutty and tasted so good. And I am satisfied with its taste.
Recommendation
So, this was my experience with iscon Thal, And there are a lot of other restaurants available in the same locality which I think are better. I would only recommend Iscon Thal to you if you don’t have many too many options available for you. It’s not worth a shot but I hope in my future visit they will be able to serve tasty Saurashtra dishes.
