Story Behind To Visit This Place
It was a winter day and cold enough to try some delicious, nutritious, and warm Indian food. So I think khichdi would be the best option and went to the “khichdi Etc” branch which is located in Prahlad Nagar and it is very popular for serving varieties of khichdi with unusual combinations.
Interior of This Place
I walk into the restaurant and it looks really nice and properly organized. The next moment I was greeted with a smile from the staff. I love the traditional touch and creativity done by their team to give the restaurant an outstanding impression of Indian authentic food.
They used copper utensils to serve food which has its own health benefits. The place is not crowded nor unfilled. And as far as I know, the majority of people are families and it seems like they’re having a good time enjoying food with their loved ones. By the time I went to this place it was winter and very chilly so there are no problems regarding air conditioning. The overall ambiance of the restaurant is family-style, calm, and perfect to enjoy your meal.
Food Experience
I ordered, “Achari Khichdi” or “Pickle Khichdi” in which pickle is used as gravy and it delivers a unique taste. The khichdi looks very tasty, warm, and with melting ghee on the top I can’t stop myself from grabbing a bite. The service is fast though, I don’t need to wait too long for my order. I can smell the aroma of Indian masala flavor coming out from the khichdi.
But my experience with Achari Khichdi was not good enough. In fact, it is totally different from what I expect. The khichdi was too spicy pushing me to drink water after every bite. I hardly eat a very little amount of khichdi and it was enough for me. I drank a whole 1 bottle of water during my meal because it was freaking spicy. But again it was not the case, the khichdi was too sour to eat. And the addition of too much capsaicin in the form of spice makes it impossible to eat for a person like me.
Apart from my hard to eat “Achari khichdi”, what bothers me is the price, their charges are way too high and according to me, it is not worth the khichdi I got served.
Recommendation
My overall experience was not good with the “Khichdi Etc”. Maybe because I had only tried their one recipe (achari Khichdi) and nothing else. Because my stomach was full of water and spices before I thought to order something next. I like the restaurant ambiance, service, and serving a diverse range of khichdi which you can’t find anywhere else. But things didn’t work out as I expected. Well, I like to give it another shot on my next visit and try something new and different from achari khichdi and I hope it will be better than this experience.
